Settima Meccanica Drives Innovation in Electric Marine Propulsion
At the Genoa International Boat Show, Settima Meccanica, a company within the Green Silence Group, played a key role in an important innovation project dedicated to sustainable marine mobility.
At the Velettrica stand, the new Drive-Pod-16 was unveiled in its world premiere. This hybrid propulsion system, featuring an integrated inverter, has been designed for sailing and motor yachts between 10 and 14 meters in length, with the possibility of being deployed on larger vessels as well.
Within the project, Settima Meccanica and SPIN Engineering Solutions collaborated on the development and design of the system, contributing advanced expertise in electromagnetic design and electric drive technologies.
A distinctive feature of the Drive-Pod-16 is the integration of SpinRel®, the patented technology developed by SPIN Engineering Solutions. This innovative solution enables the creation of synchronous motor-generators without permanent magnets or rare earth materials, delivering high efficiency, exceptionally quiet operation, and enhanced environmental sustainability through the use of fully recyclable materials.
The project also includes an integrated inverter developed through the collaboration between Settima Meccanica and NX Technologies of San Sebastián, the company responsible for manufacturing the electronic device.
Participation in this project further reinforces Green Silence Group’s position as a technology partner supporting the development of innovative solutions for the energy transition and sustainable mobility. The Group provides expertise ranging from electric motor design and power electronics to the industrialization of advanced systems for a wide range of applications.
